A 15 m strip free of scrub, grass and debris
Around buildings on or within 400 m of forest land. Trees may stay, thinned as the self-protection plan sets.
Nothing that burns within 3 m of the walls
No plants, furniture or stored materials against the house; avoid cypress or conifer hedges.

Remove dry leaves and branches near the chimney; a spark arrestor is recommended.

Your urbanisation's self-protection plan
Urbanisations in a danger zone (all of Benahavís) must have one, prepared by the owners and approved by the Town Hall. Ask your community whether it exists and whether its works are done.
